Most people are adapting and moving more online. This includes Facebook and Instagram live! Make sure you're doing it right to get the most bang for your social buck.
Tell people ahead of time when you're going to broadcast
Build anticipation and let people plan ahead for your next live video.
Make sure you have a good connection and remove distractions
There is nothing more frustrating for the viewer to have a broadcast stop right in the middle. Do NOT go live unless you have a solid connection. Make sure all distractions are “put away” so you can focus on your message and your viewer.
Your description matters
Much like a caption of a photo, your Live description plays a huge roll in success. Write it out in your notes and then copy into place when it’s time to go live. Don’t just throw it together. Make sure to tell viewers what to expect in this broadcast
Ask viewers to follow you and turn on notifications to see when you go live
Remind followers they can turn on notifications and never miss a live video from you! Just make sure your videos are compelling enough no one would WANT to miss them.
Welcome and say hello to commenters by name and respond to their comments.
Say hi by name and they join you, and use their names when answering questions and responding to questions. Stop what you’re saying and answer each question as they come in.
The longer you broadcast, the more people you will reach.
At least 10 minutes is recommended- but you have to be delivering that whole time. Make sure to have a plan in place on what you’re going to do/say during that time. Don’t force it- if it’s done, it’s done.
Give context regularly
Every few minutes restate what you’re doing on this video. People are tuning in all the time, make sure they know what’s going on. “Hey, if you’re just joining us, welcome to our broadcast. We’re currently talking about [topic] and we’ve just covered [previous topic].”
Be creative and CONSISTENT
Set a day of the week you will always go live and make it an ongoing expectation for your followers. Get creative, HAVE FUN, and be yourself.
